This is a full-time, 9-month renewable, non-tenure track appointment with a starting date of September 16, 2017.

The music program has an enrollment of more than 400 music majors and a faculty and staff of 85, plus 70 graduate teaching assistants. A wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs are offered, from the baccalaureate through the doctorate, including programs in performance, collaborative piano, music education, composition, theory, musicology, jazz studies, piano and string pedagogy, conducting, music technology, and music with a liberal arts emphasis. The school is designated as the only full-range professional school of music and dance in the state of Oregon.
Primary responsibilities for the position will be to teach and recruit undergraduate and graduate viola students, coach and direct chamber music ensembles, teach general music courses designed to fulfill university-wide general education requirements in the arts and humanities, and, possibly teach courses in string techniques/methods/pedagogy. Maintain an active performing career, including on-campus performances with faculty colleagues. Additional duties dependent upon qualifications of the applicant and the needs of the school. In addition, candidates will be expected to serve on committees and perform other appropriate university service.

-Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching at the college level.

-Demonstrated potential to contribute effectively to a faculty team dedicated to creating a positive, dynamic, and inclusive learning environment for an increasingly diverse student population.
-Doctorate in music or equivalent outstanding professional experience preferred
