Department Summary
The mission of Campus Planning and Facilities Management (CPFM) is to be stewards of the legacy we inherit and will leave to others, we guide the planning, design, and construction of the campus to accommodate growth and change while preserving its heritage and enriching the environments that support the university’s mission of teaching, research and public process.

The Office of Design and Construction works closely with Facilities personnel, faculty, and staff across campus to deliver projects that support science and research. Project sizes range from under $50,000 to over $5M. Project types include small departmental moves, interior renovations, new building construction, and many different types in between.

Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the management and inspection of primarily medium scale University construction and renovation projects. Typical projects may include laboratory renovations, construction of new research suites, and large equipment installations. Responsibilities include scope development, design coordination, contract oversight, schedule and budget development, job site quality control, and coordination of construction activities with building users. This position may also serve in a primary support role on large capital projects, under the guidance of an Owner’s Representative.

Interactions/contacts occur daily with the campus community in the course of performing work and responding to emergencies. Position works as a member of a team while frequently performing tasks independently. Decisions may be made about the best method and materials necessary to perform a particular task. They may also include setting priorities, assessing customer needs and responding to those needs. Work is reviewed regularly by the supervising manager to ensure it is performed efficiently, safely, and meets both expectations and applicable requirements. A performance appraisal is conducted annually. Employees are expected to adhere to all State, Federal, University and Department policies, procedures and laws and the current SEIU contract. These guidelines are used to create a safe, productive, and respectful work environment and to support the education and research mission of the university.

Work Conditions
The person in this position may work in high places, in tunnels, outside in extreme temperatures, and active construction sites with noisy conditions and requiring PPE.

Minimum Requirements
• Three years of engineering or architectural experience which includes one year of experience as a project manager for projects involving building construction and site development; AND
• A Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a closely-related field or three additional years of relevant engineering and/or architectural experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: (Candidates must meet SR in order to advance)
This position will require a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain UO Driver's Certification.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with MS Excel, Word, & Outlook
• Experience and proven proficiency with MS Project
• International Code Council (ICC) certification in Commercial Combination Inspector OR Commercial Building Inspections
• Experience or formal training in Construction Project Management
• Experience with construction contract management
• Experience in a higher education, institutional or research setting
