What was your role in connection with those issues? What did you find most rewarding and most difficult in working on those issues?
3. Describe your experience working with individuals 1) from diverse backgrounds, and 2) in stressful or traumatic situations. Please identify and discuss at least two key issues to pay attention to when working with these populations.

The Equal Opportunity Specialist/Title IX Investigator plays a critical role in the university's response to reported incidents of prohibited discrimination, harassment, and retaliation by facilitating alternative resolutions and conducting formal investigations of alleged misconduct involving students, staff, and faculty, and also by engaging in campus-wide prevention education efforts.
In all areas of responsibility, the Equal Opportunity Specialist/Title IX Investigator must have a solid understanding of Title VII, Title IX, and other applicable legal requirements and standards, and the ability to apply that understanding appropriately to the facts of each individual situation. The Equal Opportunity Specialist/Title IX Investigator must have the ability to work eﬀectively with administrators, faculty, staﬀ and students from diverse backgrounds, working at multiple levels within the institution, and at all times appropriately maintain the conﬁdentiality of the issues handled by the oﬃce.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Three to five years of relevant professional experience conducting formal complaint investigations and resolutions, preferably involving issues of alleged harassment and discrimination.
• Demonstrated experience in successful assessment, investigation, and resolution of complaints including, but not limited to, strong skills in conducting interviews, reviewing evidence and information, and facilitating conflict resolutions.
• Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze and apply legal and policy standards to speciﬁc factual patterns.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey relevant information in clearly written reports and in communications with parties.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work eﬀectively in a culturally-competent manner with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain professional working relationships with campus administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
• Ability to deal with sensitive and/or stressful situations in a professional and conﬁdential manner and to maintain neutrality in the face of resistance, indifference, or hostility.
• Demonstrated ability to handle a signiﬁcant caseload, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain detailed records.
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully both independently and collaboratively.
• Demonstrated ability to support diversity and inclusion in every aspect and responsibility associated with the job.
• Demonstrated commitment to the principles of due process, fairness, and respect.
• J.D. or other advanced degree in a related ﬁeld
• Experience conducting investigations of cases involving sexual misconduct.
• Experience working in or with institutions of higher education, including experience working with students.
• Experience developing and presenting training sessions, preferably on prohibited discrimination/equal opportunity issues.
