Department Summary
As a major department of the UO Libraries, the Center for Media and Educational Technologies (CMET) provides a wide range of technology services and facilities that directly enable and enhance the University’s mission. These include educational technology support, faculty development, Learning Management System (LMS) administration and support, classroom technologies, educational video production and streaming media services.

Position Summary
In support of the academic mission of the University of Oregon and reporting to the Associate Director of CMET, the Instructional Technologist will provide instructional design which includes course design, technical assistance, advice, information, direction, recommendations and training to faculty and Graduate Employees (GEs) on the development of curricula and course materials that take advantage of instructional technologies and apply best practices in the online courses. The position is located in Eugene, Oregon and is not eligible for remote work. Please note: This position is fully funded for three years, with a potential permanent placement based on the success of the online/distance education program.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Experience using and designing learning management systems and online courses.
• Working knowledge of instructional design models and their use cases.
• Knowledge of contemporary practices and emerging trends in instructional technology.

Professional Competencies
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with faculty and staff in a variety of
disciplines.
• Must work well as part of a team and independently.
• Must work well in an environment of high activity with constant interruptions.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with faculty and providing support in a higher education setting.
• Two years instructional technology design and development experience in higher education.
• Advanced or terminal degree.
• Experience administering a major LMS.
• Demonstrable knowledge of Theories of Learning, instructional models and associated
pedagogy.
• Experience teaching in higher education.
