Position Summary
This position is part of the Archaeological Research Division (a.k.a the Oregon State Museum of Anthropology/OSMA) at MNCH. OSMA was created in 1935 by the State Legislature and has been at the forefront of innovative archaeological research in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest ever since.

The position's primary task is to provide cultural resource management services to a variety of clients by managing and leading archaeological field crews in survey and excavation, management of field data, and coordination with multiple landowners and land-managing agencies for the Research division at the Museum of Natural & Cultural History. The Senior Research Associate will analyze and publish research paperwork and publications, and collaborate with other units and programs at the Museum. This position supervises and trains volunteers and students, and assigns and reviews work.

The Senior Research Associate reports to the Director of the Research division.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum Qualifications to be hired as a Research Associate:
• Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, history, historic preservation, or a closely-related field.
• Four years fieldwork, project management, and research lab experience.

Minimum Qualifications to be hired as a Senior Research Associate 1:
• Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, history, historic preservation, or a closely-related field.
• Six years experience post advanced degree in fieldwork, project management, and research lab experience.

Professional Competencies
• Analytical specialties (architectural history, landscape archaeology, lithic analysis, faunal analysis, paleobotanical analysis)
• Extensive experience and expertise in prehistoric and/or historic archaeology of the Pacific Northwest.

Preferred Qualifications
• PhD in archaeology, anthropology, or related field.
• Active research and publication record.
• Familiarity with archaeology and cultural resource management policies and regulations in Oregon and Pacific Northwest.
• Experience with GIS information management.
