Position Announcement
The University of Oregon’s College of Education (COE) announces the opening of a tenure-line faculty position at the rank of associate or assistant professor to serve as Julie and Keith Thomson Chair and inaugural Director of the HEDCO Clinic. Candidates with experience in a leadership role related to research and service delivery in a clinical setting, such as a university-based clinic, VA hospital or research hospital, are highly encouraged to apply. We seek a faculty member with the leadership, clinical and research skills necessary to bring the HEDCO Clinic to the highest levels of accomplishment.

Responsibilities will include directing all clinical and research activities of our College of Education HEDCO Clinic. The position requires facilitating, building and integrating clinical practice and research across programs and specialty clinical services. The director will work in a team that includes finance and operations, program directors, principal investigators, and post-doctoral trainees. The Director will also conduct an independent research program, obtain external research funding, collaborate with COE faculty, and teach occasional graduate (e.g., practica, assessment) or undergraduate courses in the College of Education.

The successful candidate will have rigorous research experience and/or trajectory with the potential for, or a history of, obtaining external research funding. Demonstrated clinical expertise to facilitate clinical research direction, student training, and clinical program support is required. We seek candidates with strong multicultural competencies to contribute to one or more of our many accredited undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degree programs.

Department or Program Summary
The College of Education at the UO has a strong tradition of scholarship, outreach, and impact at local, state, national, and global levels. The College is a community of scholars devoted to scholarly excellence and creating a learning and research environment that seeks diverse perspectives, demands equity, and fosters inclusion. It is home to a dozen research and outreach units, two training clinics – including the HEDCO Clinic, and a highly productive faculty who are national and international leaders in prevention science, school-based intervention, research methods, and measurement designed to improve the lives of children and families.

The HEDCO Clinic is a multi-disciplinary, innovative training clinic within the College of Education that is staffed by a team of faculty and students who provide comprehensive, research-based services to a range of different populations, including early childhood, school-age children, adolescents, and adults. Behavioral interventions for children and families with a range of presenting problems are provided through clinical training across a number of different accredited academic programs in the College of Education. The clinic provides services in the areas of autism, learning disability, speech and language therapy and development, cognition and brain injury, couples interventions, family treatment, and reading and mathematics improvement.

College of Education graduate programs are some of the highest ranked in the country for both research scholarship and graduate education, including the School Leadership Counseling Psychology, School Psychology, and Special Education Programs. Faculty are dedicated to enhancing multicultural competencies, promoting social justice, and promoting education and prevention sciences and practices.

Our faculty are devoted to inspiring and mentoring the approximately 1500 undergraduate and graduate students who comprise the College and who will be the next generation of educational and social service leaders. Minimum Requirements
• Earned doctorate (e.g., Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D, or MD) in an area central to conducting clinical research, such as Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology, Applied Psychology, Educational Psychology, Speech Pathology, Special Education, Social Work/Public Health, or a closely related field
• Eligibility for appropriate licensure to practice in Oregon
• Increasingly responsible experience working and directing the work of others in a clinical setting; university-based, or public or private health care setting
• A record of scholarly productivity and excellence commensurate with level of experience
• Potential for a record of conducting, administering, and sustaining a program of scientifically rigorous research
• A record of, or evidence of potential for, obtaining external research funding
• A record of teaching, mentoring, and/or supervising graduate students
• Commitment to equity in research, clinical, teaching, and service activities
• Demonstrated excellence or the potential for excellence in teaching graduate and/or undergraduate level university courses

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience and/or research interests with culturally and linguistically diverse populations
• Managerial experience in a clinical setting; university-based, or public or private health care setting
• Excellent communication skills for translating research findings for policy makers, intervention teams, community leaders, and research and evaluation specialists ‬‬
• An established area of substantive research interest that complements existing COE faculty research
