Department Summary
The Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB) is a research institute that reports to the Vice President for Research and Innovation. We have 18 labs and approximately 150 employees, including 45 graduate students who train in our labs. We have an administrative structure, which includes accounting, purchasing, personnel, PI support, building management, and three service centers. Our annual budget is about $9.5 million, primarily from federal research and training grants.

Position Summary
The position of Research Assistant will involve engagement in an independent research project involving genetics, microscopy, and molecular biology. Based on prior experience, the project may also involve bioinformatics analysis. There will also be frequent interactions with other members of the research group and other neighboring research groups; these interactions include training of new students in basic lab techniques and presenting at group meetings for the lab.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field.
• Independent research lab experience (in a non-classroom setting).

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, and/or microscopy.
