Department Summary
The Libraries’ Research and Instructional Services (RIS) department designs and implements robust information/digital literacy instruction for library users throughout the University’s curricula, and provides outreach, research consultation, and reference services for UO faculty and students. The RIS department is comprised of 11 subject librarians who staff the Knight Library Research Desk (including chat and email), serve as subject liaisons for the humanities, social sciences, College of Education, School of Journalism and Communication, and the Lundquist College of Business, and manage services related to the Knight Library’s Learning Commons and Government Information and Microforms collections.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Head of Research and Instructional Services, the Undergraduate Engagement Librarian works collaboratively with library and campus partners to build connections and infuse information literacy instruction and library engagement throughout the undergraduate experience. While a member of the RIS department, the Undergraduate Engagement Librarian engages with all UO Libraries faculty and staff across the Eugene campus, in Portland, and the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology. This person works to advance student success and teaching excellence by developing and coordinating initiatives to enhance the quality and quantity of instruction provided by the Libraries.

Minimum Requirements
• Master’s Degree in Library/Information Science/Studies by ALA-accredited program.
• Two years of providing research assistance and instruction in an academic setting.
• Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check.

Professional Competencies
• Knowledge and experience employing instructional design, creating outcomes, and using assessment.
• Knowledge and experience with evidence-based pedagogy and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to support and enhance a diverse learning and working environment.

Preferred Qualifications
• Supervisory experience.
• Record of professional scholarship and service.
• Experience with program planning/management.
• Experience with teaching and learning pedagogies.
• Experience working with new information technologies.
• Grant writing experience.
