Department Summary
An integral part of a research library system within an AAU public research university, the Center for Media and Educational Technologies (CMET) supports the creation, dissemination, and preservation of knowledge by providing enterprise academic technology services and facilities. We support our faculty and instructors in their academic technology needs including classroom technologies, educational video production and streaming media services, instructional design and technology support, AV equipment checkout, and learning management systems administration and support. The department works closely with other departments and functional areas of the Libraries, including Digital Scholarship Services, Library Technology Services, Research and Instructional Services, and Data Services. CMET partners with the Teaching Engagement Program in the Office of the Provost, the Teaching Academy, and Undergraduate Studies to support teaching excellence and student success.

Position Summary
The Media Services Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the video production and media services teams to ensure smooth operations and business continuity. This position coordinates the maintenance, repair, and support of classroom technology, media services, video production, streaming services, equipment checkout, and educational technology. Reporting to the Associate Director for CMET, the incumbent provides leadership in budget development, project management, new technology assessment, and staff scheduling.

The incumbent provides excellent customer service to the campus community by ensuring the proper working order of high-quality instructional technology facilities, equipment, and services for all general pool and joint-controlled on campus and AV services for the UO Libraries. Working closely with the Manager of AV Design and Engineering, the position also coordinates instructor training on classroom technologies.

The Media Services Manager assists in the management of web-based equipment inventory and checkout systems and determines circulation policies and fines as necessary. This position also helps determine policies and procedures for equipment purchase and use.

This position manages the front desk student budget and operations, and serves as the on-site supervisor for 2+ classified staff and for all student employees on the Classroom Technologies and Video Production teams. This includes hiring, evaluating performance, scheduling, training, and terminating employees. The incumbent also manages scheduled events and ensures smooth delivery of coordinated AV services across teams to ensure a holistic, user-centered event experience.

The Media Services Manager actively engages with Library and IT professionals, UO faculty and staff, and with the broader professional community to facilitate effective and sustainable AV, media, and video production services in support of the academic mission of the University of Oregon.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Five years of related professional experience, specifically as it relates to AV operation, technical direction, video production, and/or academic technology.

• Ability to work outside of normal business hours for installations and AV event management.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with design and documentation of audio-visual equipment and systems: control systems, and/or digital audio standards.
• Experience managing technology projects.
• At least two years’ supervisory experience.
• Experience working in higher education.
• Familiarity with the evidence-based practices described in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
• Familiarity with universal design and accessible technology.
• Experience with learning management systems and other educational technologies.
• One or more professional certifications (e.g. CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D, CQD, ITIL…).
• Familiarity with networking and/or IT security practices related to AV.
• Experience working with professional video production and/or broadcast engineering.
• Experience with video production software and streaming services.
