Department Summary
The UO Department of Human Physiology is home to undergraduate and graduate students who desire strong training in human physiology and anatomy that will prepare them for careers in medicine, allied health professions, and biomedical research.

Position Summary
The Human Cardiovascular Control/Exercise and Environmental Physiology Labs at the University of Oregon are seeking a full-time Research Study Coordinator. Under the direction of Drs. Christopher Minson and John Halliwill, these labs conduct research aimed at understanding the influence of exercise and environmental stressors on human health and performance. Current projects focus on examining the influence of heat therapy and endurance exercise on cardiovascular wellness and the treatment of hypertension. The Research Study Coordinator will be responsible assisting in the general logistics and day-to-day operation of the research program, including assistance on IRB and related paperwork, recruitment and screening of research subjects, coordination of schedules, lab purchasing, travel arrangements, training and scheduling of undergraduate research assistants, contributing to the management of the research team. The Research Study Coordinator works independently with a limited-range of decision making authority over scheduling, routine purchasing, and organization related to day-to-day lab activities.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Physiology, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Biology, or a related field.
• Work experience (or graduate school experience) in a laboratory performing human subjects’ research or in a clinical environment.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize work demands

Professional Competencies
• Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and oral formats.
• Ability to work both independently, in a small group setting, and one-on-one with students, other staff, and collaborators in a positive and productive manner.
• Ability to work efficiently and skillfully with a variety of diverse staff and collaborators.
• Ability to coordinate research protocols with other staff, and students.
• Excellent organizational skills and careful attention to details.
• High level of self-motivation and integrity.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s or PhD degree.
• Proficient in performing routine phlebotomy and clinical assessments such as blood pressure measurements.
• Knowledge of cardiovascular, respiratory, exercise, or environmental physiology.
• Experience writing and/or amending IRB protocols and other regulatory documents.
• Experience with university purchasing and travel.
