The University Career Center helps students as they prepare for the world of work through career education and preparation and connects students to opportunities through a dynamic employer relations model. The Center achieves this through the following: providing information online regarding career options, career paths, employer profiles, and job opportunities; educating students on resources and strategies for job applications, internships, and graduate schools; creating opportunities for interactions between students, employers, and faculty; sharing knowledge of career readiness and employer needs by contributing to professional development and training of Academic and Career Advisors (ACAs) and academic faculty; serving as a central resource to professional schools and colleges for generalized career education and preparation services, resources, and programming; helping students learn to articulate the skills gained in their UO journey; and providing data to help the university share the story of where students land with a UO education.
The Associate Director of Employer Engagement is responsible for developing and operationalizing a cohesive strategy to significantly expand and foster employer relationships with the UO and provide an increasingly diverse array of meaningful connections for students with employers that contribute to the post-degree employment success of UO graduates. This position will represent the University Career Center through meetings, collaborations, presentations, and speaking engagements with employers, students, and other stakeholders on behalf of the Career Center. Additional responsibilities will include leading employer engagement assessment efforts, data compilation, and analysis to identify and report job market trends, outreach outcomes, impact on student opportunities for internships and full-time employment, and net increase in employer relationships across each industry.
Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as a key member of the University Career Center leadership team, the person in this role must be an innovative leader positioned to provide strategic direction and management of all employer outreach efforts. This individual leads a team of dedicated employer relations professionals.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Four years of related experience in recruitment/human resources, sales/marketing, corporate program development, career services, higher education, or other related field.
• Four years of supervisory experience of dynamic staff.
• Demonstrated experience with and/or commitment to working effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment.
• Knowledge of employers and industry, job search strategies, job market trends, employer relations, contemporary recruitment practices, and/or trends in career services.
• Demonstrated track record of success in partnering and developing successful long-term client relationships.
• Highly developed skills in team-based management and professional staff supervision.
• Visionary mindset and demonstrated strategic and innovative approach to problem-solving.
• Experience with and demonstrated skills in public speaking.
• Demonstrated competency to assess, organize and prioritize multiple initiatives and tasks with a strategic lens and attention to detail.
• Ability to analyze data, run reports, and share assessment results.
• Experience with career- and workforce-related technology needs.
• Eligibility to drive university vehicles.
• Ability to travel and work non-standard hours, including some nights and weekends.
• Knowledge of best practices in career development and an understanding of the principles of student development.
• Previous fundraising or employer engagement experience.
