Department Summary
The University of Oregon is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), and is a major research university committed to combining high level research with strong undergraduate and graduate teaching. Founded in 1876, UO enrolls almost 24,000 students from all 50 states and more than 95 countries, and offers over 300 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. There are also 30 research centers, institutes, and core research facilities. Since July 2014, the University has been governed by an independent Board of Trustees of the University of Oregon. One of two AAU institutions in the Pacific Northwest, the University is widely known for a mix of highly ranked departments and innovative interdisciplinary programs; a strong commitment to research and education; and a collaborative, non-hierarchical institutional culture.

The University of Oregon School of Law offers a three-year JD, a one-year LLM, a two-year Master’s degree program in Conflict and Dispute Resolution, and an undergraduate minor in Legal Studies.

Position Summary
Pro tem positions may be limited duration, one, or multiple terms/semesters and are potentially renewable based on curriculum needs, funding and performance. Visiting professor positions are limited duration for up to two years. Pro tempore and visiting faculty work under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis and the pool will remain active through January 2021.

The law school is particularly interested in candidates with significant teaching or practice experience in the following areas: accounting and finance for lawyers, administrative law, alternative dispute resolution/mediation, antitrust, arbitration, bankruptcy, civil procedure, conflicts of law, contracts, corporate finance, corporate law, criminal law and procedure, disability law, employment discrimination, employment law, energy law, environmental law, estate planning, evidence, family law, federal judicial settlements, federal jurisdiction, green construction, hazardous waste law, health law, immigration law, intellectual property law, international law, interviewing and counseling, labor law, land use law, legal research and writing, litigation, local government law, professional responsibility, property law, renewable energy law, securities regulation, sports law, tax law, trial practice, tribal law, and wildlife law.

The Conflict and Dispute Resolution Master’s program addresses a wide scope of non-adversarial dispute resolution options combining broad interdisciplinary training and opportunities for individualized study and skills development. The program is particularly interested in candidates with practice and teaching experience in mediation, arbitration, negotiation, cross-cultural conflict resolution, environmental conflict resolution, international conflict resolution, facilitation, marriage and family mediation, sports conflict, restorative justice and, organizational conflict resolution.

Minimum Requirements
• A J.D. is required for candidates interested in teaching J.D. law courses.
• To teach undergraduate courses in the Legal Studies program or graduate courses for the Conflict and Dispute Resolution program, a Masters degree is required; a Ph.D. or J.D. are preferred.*
• Candidates must have proven ability in their fields of expertise. Proven teaching effectiveness will receive high priority in filling these positions.

*In exceptional circumstances and upon approval by the Academic Dean, extensive experience may be considered in lieu of a graduate degree.
