What is the Temporary Employment Pool?
The University of Oregon is gathering interest from Eugene-area candidates who wish to be considered for temporary positions. Temporary support is occasionally needed in various departments at the University of Oregon, when unexpected needs arise requiring coverage while ongoing options are evaluated.

Needs are typically for administrative support; however, sometimes we have opportunities in food service/hospitality, custodial, information technology, healthcare, or other specialized roles. The minimum qualifications and specifics of work available (including duties and schedule) will vary by position.

Why should I consider temporary work?
Temporary work is no guarantee of appointment to a permanent position at the UO, but can be a great fit for those seeking flexible or transitional work opportunities, and offers the opportunity to gain additional work experience that can be applied toward qualifying for future opportunities. You’ll get to experience work on our dynamic and exciting campus, meet new coworkers, hone your skills or perhaps learn some new ones, and be eligible for sick leave. Some temporary classified employees may become eligible for representation by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) or may be eligible for health insurance based on hours worked.

How do I Apply?
Interested candidates should complete the online application, which will include noting areas of interest and experience, providing availability information, and uploading a current resume.

What’s Next?
Individuals who apply to our temporary employment pool will have their materials shared with hiring managers and supervisors when needs arise for temporary assistance. Applicants will receive direct outreach from departments when a temporary need arises that matches with their skills and experience, in order to discuss potential opportunities.

If you apply and your circumstances later change, you have the option to log back into the applicant portal to update your submission or to withdraw from the 2023 Temporary Employment pool.
