Department Summary

Position Summary

The UO Online Support Specialist provides exceptional customer service to students, staff, faculty and community members utilizing UO Online support services. The Support Specialist provides primary auxiliary support to both UO Online Exam Center and UO Online Faculty Canvas Support services and secondary support to the UO Online Instructional Design team as appropriate. In addition, this position greets visitors, answers questions, handles complaints, makes referrals as appropriate, and provides program information. The UO Online Support Specialist must be able to explain program and technical details in common and uncommon situations to a wide variety of audiences.

The UO Online Support Specialist helps support the proctoring services at the UO Online exam center by confirming student identity, monitoring active exam sessions, verifying and maintaining exam administration guidelines. This position helps students to schedule on-campus exams or arrange proctoring for off-site exams. In support of the academic mission of the University of Oregon, this position also provides front-line faculty support for effective use of UO’s Learning Management System (LMS). The successful candidate will work closely with department personnel to promote quality standards, high-impact educations practices, and effective use of technology for teaching and learning.

Minimum Requirements

• Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
• An Associate's Degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
• Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors’ degree
• Two years’ experience in customer service
• One year experience working in higher education
• One year experience providing program support
• One year experience working with a customer management system
