The HR Programs and Services unit manages the university's benefits, medical leaves, work-life, HR compliance, learning and development, and recognition programs for all employees. The unit provides HR support services to the campus community and is responsible for generating and distributing HR communications to all university employees. The unit develops and maintains HR programs in collaboration with campus stakeholders to support university leadership and institutional priorities.

HR Programs & Services is a unit within Human Resources in the Finance and Administration portfolio. Finance and Administration is a vibrant and varied portfolio serving all aspects of campus life. Our employees perform a wide range of functions including offering essential financial tools and support to the university’s many departments, providing key resources to employees, and keeping the campus safe, clean, accessible, and beautiful.

Position Summary

The Leaves Operations Specialist reports to the Associate Director of Benefits and serves as a key member of the medical leaves department within University Human Resources. This role serves as the point of contact for the execution and review of medical leave transactions and processes and will work directly with employees, unit administrators and the payroll department.

The Leaves Operations Specialist position requires the ability to create, maintain, and clearly communicate efficient processes, including the best practices for leaves transactions. Responsibilities will include conducting and compiling research, preparing reports or correspondence, compiling data and completing reviews, updating resources, and other related tasks as needed. This position may perform functions of other leaves team members as a backup.

This position assists and acts in a confidential capacity to the Associate Director of Benefits and leaves staff. The position is based in Eugene with some level of flexibility, including the option to work remotely with frequent commuting to campus. All adjusted work arrangements require supervisor and leadership approval.

Minimum Requirements

• Two years’ experience in leaves administration, human resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in data analysis and reconciliation, including creating and maintaining reports.

• Effective communication skills, including presentation skills; ability to effectively communicate complex information to individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Familiarity with federal and state laws that affect leaves administration.
• Working knowledge of Ellucian Banner or similar large enterprise-wide system.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software and databases.
• Experience working with Collecting Bargaining Agreements.
