Department Summary
The Office of the Provost (OtP) upholds, provides leadership on, and carries out the academic mission of the University. The Data Science Initiative (DSI) is an initiative managed by the Office of the Provost. The purpose of this interdisciplinary initiative is to bring together new and existing faculty to create new research and education programs focused on data science.

Position Summary
The Data Science Initiative (DSI) is seeking qualified applicants for its open research pool. DSI is currently working to develop its undergraduate and graduate programs.

Positions are limited duration, funding contingent appointments that are part time or short term contracts not to exceed one year, with the possibility of renewal up to a total of three years. Renewals will be dependent upon program needs, funding, and performance. Salary will be dependent upon education, experience, and available funding.

Open positions will include research assistants, research associates, research scientists, research professors, or post doctoral scholars.

Research Assistant positions will conduct research under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI). In addition, to further research learning, the research assistant will receive an annual performance evaluation. Research Scientists will use specific technical skill sets to conduct and assist with research under guidance from the PI.

Research Associate positions will conduct research with only general guidance from the PI. In addition, to further research learning, the Research Associate will receive an annual performance evaluation.

Research Professors conduct independent research and may have some instructional responsibilities.

Postdoctoral Research Scholars will conduct research under the direction of a faculty member to acquire research training. In addition, to further career development, the postdoctoral research scholar and PI will create and follow mentoring and individual development plans.
Successful candidates will have the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

Minimum Requirements
Research Assistant and Research Scientist:
• B.S. in a relevant field

Research Associate:
• Terminal degree in a related field

Research Professor:
• Assistant - terminal degree in related field
• Associate - terminal degree and six years of experience
• Full - terminal degree and twelve years of experience

Postdoctoral Scholar:
• Ph.D. in related field
