The Institute for Policy Research and Engagement (IPRE) is an interdisciplinary organization that assists Oregon communities by providing planning and technical assistance to help solve local issues and improve the quality of life for Oregon residents. The role of IPRE is to link the skills, expertise, and innovation of secondary and higher education with the planning and policy needs of communities and regions in the State of Oregon thereby providing service to Oregon and learning to the students involved.

The Project Coordinator will work closely with the Institute for Policy Research & Engagement (IPRE) Associate Director and IPRE program faculty to coordinate and direct applied projects. This is a funding contingent position that oversees day-to-day project management activities. Responsibilities will include providing management, guidance, and direct supervision of students (graduate and undergraduate), student research teams, and paid graduate and undergraduate research assistants. The Project Coordinator will assist with project development, including grant and proposal research and writing. The Project Coordinator will also provide research support to other IPRE programs as needed. This position will require statewide and limited overnight travel.
A successful candidate will work strategically with diverse colleagues, students, and community members. The position requires active engagement in practicing principles of social justice and inclusion. The position facilitates a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
• Master’s degree in Community and Regional Planning, Public Administration, Public Policy, or related field
• Two years of demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: project management, community/urban planning, public administration, applied research related to planning and public policy issues, service-learning programs, and report writing
• Spanish fluency, both written and spoken
• Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, inclusion, and diversity
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to varied audiences, both orally and in writing
• Demonstrated understanding of land use planning and economic development
• Skills and experience in public outreach, public involvement coordination, and small group facilitation
• Multi-lingual (languages in addition to Spanish)
• Experience living, working, or collaborating with historically marginalized, underrepresented, or under-served communities
• Demonstrated success communicating and working with people from different cultural backgrounds, with diverse life experiences and learning styles
• Experience with mailed or Internet survey design, administration, and analysis
• Experience working in a University environment
• Professional experience in a government agency
• Experience with Stata/SPSS/SAS/R or similar statistical software
• Experience with complex statistical analysis
• Experience with ArcGIS
