The University of Oregon’s Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track position in developmental psychology, broadly defined. Because we are establishing a new emphasis area in diversity science, we are particularly interested in developmental researchers that conduct work in this area (for more information about the diversity science cluster, please see this posting). However, we welcome applications from all subfields of developmental psychology. The appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level and will begin in Fall 2022.
Department or Program Summary
The primary goal of the Department of Psychology is to cover the entire field of basic psychological and clinically relevant research. Department faculty group themselves into four major areas: Clinical, Cognitive/Systems Neuroscience, Developmental, and Social/Personality. Our department values interdisciplinary collaborations and open science. We embrace basic as well as translational work with potential for societal impact. Applicants are strongly encouraged to address in their statements how they have pursued and/or plan to pursue these goals in their work.
The Department is committed to creating an inclusive community through its Committee for an Inclusive Community (CIC). The CIC is an organization within our department composed of graduate students, faculty, and staff invested in the shared interest of a diverse and inclusive environment. Formed in 2012, the CIC advances its mission by: (1) providing opportunities for the Department to discuss diversity and inclusivity and integrate these values into our research, teaching, and mentorship; and (2) collaborating with additional campus resources (e.g., Center on Diversity and Community, VP of Equity and Inclusion). The department’s commitment to a new emphasis area in diversity science also aligns with university-wide strategic goals to promote excellence in diversity-related research and teaching, increase inclusiveness, and improve the climate for diverse faculty, staff, and students.
The competitive candidate (Ph.D. required at the time of appointment) will have an active research program and be capable of outstanding research and teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
We are especially interested in candidates who will contribute to the collaborative, interdisciplinary, and growing community of researchers across campus with interests in diversity science. We also particularly welcome applications from scholars who are from populations historically underrepresented in the academy, and/or who have experience working with diverse populations.
