Position Summary
The Research Administrative Coordinator (RAC) will be responsible for a broad set of assignments across the C&I research portfolio. This position provides research administration, grant management and unit-level financial services to research active C&I faculty and their affiliates. The RAC works closely with principal investigators throughout the award life cycle and is proactive in managing the pre-award process, including establishing deadlines and monitoring progress leading up to proposal submission. This position will also engage in post-award administrative functions, such as preparing reports to meet sponsor regulations, processing complex transactions, providing guidance on compliance questions and responding to sponsor request for additional materials.


The RAC will also be responsible for unit-level other financial management, payroll processing and other research administration similar to but distict from sponsored project administration.

Additionally, this position will interact regularly with external constituents, administrative colleagues, faculty, students and sponsors in the public and private sector. This position will report directly to the Institute of Neuroscience’s Associate Director for Administration, and will play an essential role in supporting administrative teams across the C&I division.

Minimum Requirements
• A Bachelor's degree*
• Three years of progressively responsible experience in research administration, administration of sponsored programs, and/or writing grant proposals.

*Two additional years of relevant work experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree.

Professional Competencies
• Demonstrated knowledge of governmental and granting agency regulations pertaining to grants and contracts.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with overlapping deadlines and frequent interruptions while maintaining a high level of customer service and professionalism.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills with close attention to detail.
• Strong writing and editing skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a variety of constituents.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds as well as to develop knowledge of, respect for, those from a broad array of cultures and backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications
• Two (2)+ years of experience in developing, editing, and reviewing proposals, budgets, grants, and/or contracts for adherence to state and federal regulations.
• Professional certifications, a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Research Administration, Business Administration, Management, Public Administration or a closely-related field.
• One or more years of project management experience related to research or grant administration in higher education, research organizations or a related environment.
• Experience with budget and financial management.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and other software programs including: HRIS/FIS platforms/databases, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Docs.
