Department Summary

Department
The primary goal of the Department of Psychology is to cover the entire field of basic psychological and clinically relevant research. Department faculty group themselves into four major areas: Clinical, Cognitive/Systems Neuroscience, Developmental, and Social-Personality. Our department values interdisciplinary collaboration and embraces the values of open and reproducible science. Further, we embrace basic as well as translational work with the potential for societal impact.

Program
The Clinical Psychology doctoral program has been continuously accredited by the American Psychological Association since 1958 and is a member of the Academy of Psychological Clinical Science. In May 2013, the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System also accredited the clinical program. The program endorses a clinical scientist model for graduate training. This model emphasizes multi-level conceptualizations of psychopathology, comprising neurobiological, developmental, psychosocial, and multicultural perspectives. Doctoral students receive training in infant, child, and adult psychopathology, culture, and diversity, infant, child, family, and adult assessment, and neuropsychology. Support for diverse students and attention to diversity in their clinical training is a priority. Further, students receive training in our in-house Psychology Training Clinic.

Clinic
The University of Oregon Psychology Training Clinic (https://psychology.uoregon.edu/welcome/clinic) is the primary training site for doctoral students in the University of Oregon clinical psychology program. The Clinic provides culturally sensitive and affirming evidence-based services for adults, teens, and children.

Position Summary

The University of Oregon Clinical Psychology program invites applicants for a full-time (9-month) Clinical Assistant Professor faculty position. This person will serve as the Associate Clinic Director (ACD) within the UO Psychology Training Clinic and teach both graduate and undergraduate classes in the Department of Psychology. The ACD supervises student trainees in evidence-based assessment and psychotherapy services and should possess a range of cognitive and/or behavioral approaches to treat various disorders and presenting problems. While there is a preference for candidates with experience in cognitive and/or neuropsychological assessments, any candidate with strong clinical and training skills in evidence-based approaches is encouraged to apply. Other responsibilities may include coordination of off-campus clinical placements and organization of professional development opportunities.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to utilize the University of Oregon Faculty Practice Plan to use clinic space to conduct limited private practice.

Minimum Requirements

• Ph.D./Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology including an accredited pre-doctoral internship and Oregon licensure or eligibility.
• Experience in direct clinical training and supervision, demonstrated teaching ability at the college or university level, the capacity to work within a clinical science model, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of training.

Professional Competencies

• Expertise in psychological assessment and/or intervention.
• Experience with supervision of doctoral students conducting interventions and/or assessments.
• Experience with undergraduate teaching, especially in clinical psychological science courses.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Competency in communicating with other psychologists.
• Competency in working with clients from diverse backgrounds.
• Competency in working with clients with various types of psychological disorders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supervising students learning neuropsychological assessment.
• Experience developing a new course offering at the college or university level.
• Bilingual or other significant multicultural competencies.
• Experience working within or helping to operate a research clinic.
