Department Summary

The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. Position Summary

This position will provide general maintenance and set-up of a multi-purpose athletic and entertainment facility managed by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Duties will include the set-up and general maintenance of Hayward Field in the staging of athletic events, presentations and other events.

The person in this position will assist trades employees with their work by doing such tasks as basic carpentry and plumbing. This position will operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment to unload shipments and to move items around the facility. This position will require the physical ability to walk, lift up to 75 pounds and lift 50 pounds overhead. This person will stoop, bend, twist, and perform repetitious movements throughout a large facility.

Minimum Requirements

• One year of general building maintenance experience in one or more of the
following trade areas:

carpentry, electrical, mechanical, painting, plumbing, and welding.

• Ability to interface and work effectively in a team environment with co-workers, customers, vendors and university staff, focusing on customer service.
• Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to communicate clearly and adapt messages effectively to individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision and willingness to work as part of a team when necessary.
• Ability to prioritize work duties and adapt to requests from Hayward occupants.
• Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in catwalks.
• Ability to use hand and power tools and various types of maintenance equipment.
• Ability to follow complex directions from supervisor.
• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in routine situations.
• Ability to walk, lift up to 75 lbs. and 50 lbs. overhead, stoop, bend, twist, climb stairs and perform repetitious movements throughout a large facility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience performing maintenance in a public facing facility.
• Experience in athletic facility setting.
