Department Summary

The University of Oregon's Lundquist College of Business offers its signature Executive MBA program on the Northeast Portland campus.

Executive MBA programs are designed for accomplished mid-to-senior managers, executives, entrepreneurs, and business leaders who want to work full-time while earning a graduate degree in two years or less. Executive MBA programs cater to mid-career professionals positioning themselves to move up the corporate ladder by deepening their already broad knowledge base, by sharpening their skills, and by tackling problems their organization will face in the coming years.

The Oregon Executive MBA is a transformational experience that gives already accomplished professionals the confidence and skill to become successful leaders in today’s complex and global business world. Collaborating with a cohort of talented peers and learning team is one aspect of the Oregon Executive MBA experience. Getting an insider perspective from leaders in business, government, and nonprofit organizations who visit the program is another aspect. Global Study trips, networking with other executive MBA students and alumni, and forging new bonds with unexpected contacts complete the package.

Position Summary

The Director of the Oregon Executive Master of Business Administration (OEMBA) program within the Lundquist College of Business is a full-time administrative staff position which provides direct leadership for strategic planning, recruiting, and daily operations to the OEMBA program.

Together with the Lundquist College of Business Leadership, and other key stakeholders, the Director shapes the vision and mission of the programs in line with the strategy and mission of Lundquist. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1) develop and implement short and long-range strategic plans that promote continuous quality improvement and increased enrollment in the OEMBA graduate program(s); and 2) lead the work of program staff on building relationships with community and business leaders; 3) develop and strengthen bonds with alumni; 4) in collaboration with the Senior Associate Dean, provide management and staffing of OEMBA course offerings; 5) in partnership with the admissions team work to develop recruitment activities and program marketing to help recruit applicants and coordinate admission procedures; and 6) interact with the Academic Director, faculty and other business leaders to continually enhance and improve the quality of the curriculum. The Director also serves as the main administrative head and performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs. This position directly supervises the Associate Director Oregon Executive MBA Student Experience, and shares supervision of the Marketing and Communications Manager, Portland, and the Senior Associate Director of Executive Admissions.

Minimum Requirements

• Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited university or college.
• Five years of supervisory experience in an industry or academic setting, seven.
• Five years of progressive leadership and management experience.
OR
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Seven years of supervisory experience in an industry or academic setting.
• Seven years of progressive leadership and management experience.

• Proven track record of successfully managing program(s) and talent.
• Professionalism, adaptability, and initiative.
• Ability to identify and solve problems.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively, utilizing a range of communication channels with diverse groups of students, faculty, administrators, alumni, staff, and other partners and business people at all levels of an organization.
• Commitment to working effectively within an increasingly diverse work environment.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (or similar software) and experience collecting, analyzing, and accurately reporting data.
• Understanding and enthusiasm for business education.

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA from AACSB accredited program preferred.
• Experience working in higher education preferably at the graduate program level.
