Knight Campus administrators provide high quality, exceptional business operations and administrative services to all units and programs in the Knight Campus through a centralized set of hubs. Service areas include full-cycle activities in human resources operations, financial operations, research administration/operations, academic administration/operations, and general business operations.

Position Summary

The Knight Campus seeks detail-oriented, adaptable, organized, and communicative individuals to provide high-level business support for our research, innovation, and academic operations.

This recruitment may be filled at either the Business Coordinator or Senior Business Coordinator level. Placement will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications, experience, and demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities of the position.

The Business Coordinator/ Senior Business Coordinator is responsible for a broad set of assignments related to the Knight Campus which regularly requires the ability to exercise independent judgment while executing the priorities identified by faculty and leadership. This position is responsible for providing essential financial, business, and regulatory services for various Knight Campus programs and operations. The Business Coordinator/ Senior Business Coordinator is expected to have a high level of independence of action. Critical thinking, sound judgment, and creative problem-solving skills are a requirement for this position.

The Business Coordinator/Senior Business Coordinator provides strong business operations and administration support through a wide range of responsibilities including full-cycle financial operations, major research purchasing, travel coordination, policy compliance, facilities operations, records retention, event coordination, and special projects. The Business Coordinator/ Senior Business Coordinator is independently responsible for the business operations for units and programs such as faculty laboratories, research core facilities, research centers/institutes, the innovation center, academic programs and units, strategic initiatives, and administrative units. This position will interact regularly with internal and external partners, leadership, colleagues, faculty, and students.

Business Coordinators are a crucial element of the support structure needed to ensure the success of the billion-dollar academic, research, and innovation enterprise envisioned as part of the Knight Campus mission.

Minimum Requirements

For the Business Coordinator:
• Bachelor's degree PLUS 3 years of progressively responsible experience in business, finance, or general operations OR 5 years of progressively responsible experience in business, finance, or general operations.

For the Senior Business Coordinator:
• Bachelor's degree PLUS 4 years of progressively responsible experience in business, finance, or general operations OR 6 years of progressively responsible business operations or administration experience.
• 2 years of professional experience in accounting, contracting, or high-volume purchasing

Professional Competencies

• High-level attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and consistent follow-through.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to learn and follow processes, plus demonstrated good judgment on when and how to deviate from processes.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with overlapping deadlines and frequent interruptions while maintaining an elevated level of customer service and professionalism.
• Ability to learn, understand, and explain university and government policies, rules, and regulations.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures and commitment to promoting an inclusive work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Business, Finance, Management, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
• One year of work experience providing high-level executive support including calendar management for an individual or executive.
• Experience handling confidential materials.
• Experience providing customer service in a professional environment.
• Experience with BANNER, Concur and/or similar information systems.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and other software programs including HRIS/FIS platforms, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Docs.
• 1 year of project management experience related to business or finance administration in higher education, research organizations or a related environment.
• 1 year of experience with financial transactions governed by regulations and complex policies.
