Department Summary

The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. The department has approximately 280 administrative & classified employees and hosts over 600,000 spectators annually and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.

Position Summary

In collaboration with the Director of Athletic Medicine, the Athletic Trainer will deliver health care to intercollegiate student-athletes including physical assessments, injury/illness evaluation and treatment, design and implementation of therapeutic exercise programs, and integration of performance testing data. This position will primarily support Beach Volleyball; will support other sports and events as needed and includes administrative responsibilities. Collaborative communication skills are critical to success in this position. The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively with others from diverse backgrounds while promoting inclusion and supporting diverse needs of individuals.

The Athletic Trainer is supervised by the Senior Associate Director of Athletic Medicine and may provide supervision for interns and/or undergraduate volunteers. This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University of Oregon, Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.

Evening and weekend work hours are required, as well as team travel.

Minimum Requirements

• Master’s degree and current BOCATC certification.
• Eligible for Oregon licensure as an athletic trainer.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare delivery team.
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with others from diverse backgrounds while promoting inclusion and supporting diverse needs of individuals.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of athletic training experience at Division I university.
• Advanced clinical skills to support Athletic Healthcare.
• Experience providing direction and oversight of healthcare delivery in a high-performance athletics environment.
