About Data, Access, Research, and Teaching Services
Data, Access, Research, & Teaching Services (DARTS) is responsible for an array of services and programs to meet the research, teaching, and learning needs of the University of Oregon community. DARTS encompasses four major areas: Teaching & Liaison Services, Access and Delivery Services, Research & Learning Paces, and the Department of Open Research (DOOR). Services provided include the circulation of collections, collection development and maintenance, information literacy instruction, data services, digital publishing, and public scholarship support. The division also oversees five branch library facilities: the Design Library, Portland Library, Price Science Commons & Research Library (PSC), the Mathematics Library, and the Loyd and Dorothy Rippey Library at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology.
The mission of DARTS is to enhance student success, faculty research, and teaching by facilitating access to information resources and specialized research spaces, building collections, providing innovative engagement activities, delivering information, data, and digital literacy teaching and consultation, implementing programs that support the adoption of Open Education Resources (OER) and provision of affordable course materials.
About the UO Portland Library
The UO Portland Library serves the University of Oregon’s Portland campus, home to nearly 500 students in graduate and select undergraduate programs focused on experiential learning, industry connections, and innovative career pathways. Academic areas include architecture, product design, journalism, strategic communications, executive MBA, sports product management, child behavioral health, and more. The campus also hosts research centers in fields such as urban planning, energy studies, immersive media, labor education, and health in the built environment. UO Portland is located in northeast Portland’s Concordia neighborhood with tree-lined streets, ample parking, and capacity for 150 residential students.
Located in the Portland Library and Learning Center building, the library provides approximately 28,000 print titles and specialized collections supporting campus programs, including an extensive architecture collection and a children’s library. Beyond library digital resources, students and faculty have access to study spaces, computers, multimedia equipment, and research support. As a welcoming hub for learning, the library also provides access and services to the broader neighborhood community, fostering connections beyond the university. With its central location, technology offerings, and services designed to enhance teaching and learning, the UO Portland Library is an integral part of the campus, fostering collaboration and innovation.
Position Summary
The Library Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting students, faculty, and researchers at the UO Portland Library, serving as a key link between UO Libraries and the Portland campus. This on-site position in Portland oversees daily library operations, manages the service desk, supervises student employees, and facilitates access to print and digital resources. The coordinator also supports course reserves, space use, and general reference services, referring complex research inquiries as needed.
Working closely with academic programs, faculty, and local committees, the Library Coordinator ensures that library services align with campus and community needs. They also help maintain library materials and study spaces, address building use concerns, and contribute to library initiatives and professional development efforts, particularly in areas of equity, inclusion, accessibility, and social justice. This role is ideal for a customer-focused, technology-savvy individual who thrives in a collaborative, service-oriented environment.
While this position is based in Portland, periodic travel will be necessary to the main campus in Eugene for staff development, meetings, and quarterly unit gatherings.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree plus two years of current (within 5 years) experience in a Library; OR, 4 years of current library experience;
• AND, advanced proficiency in multiple library specific computer applications, e.g., integrated library systems, database applications, institutional repository; content management systems.
• Some positions may also require in-depth knowledge of specialty area(s), e.g., original cataloging, complex copy cataloging, serials management, ILL management, government documents, image resources, music.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience providing public service in an academic library or similarly high-impact customer service environment.
• Experience supervising, training, or overseeing the work of student employees, volunteers, or colleagues.
• Experience using integrated library systems, particularly Ex Libris Alma/Primo, and resource sharing systems such as ILLiad, Rapido, and WorldShare.
• Experience with scanning/digitization, record uploading, networked resources, and common office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Drupal, or similar).
• Experience working in a branch library or library consortium where collaboration between locations is essential.
