Department Summary

The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities and Events the Event Manager position coordinates the planning and execution of high-quality athletic events, for the Oregon Athletic Department, that houses 18 nationally recognized intercollegiate athletic programs.

This position will serve as the main point of contact for game operations and event management of all assigned events including but not limited to Soccer, Lacrosse, Baseball, and assist in all aspects of event management related to hosting football games and track and field meets. Additionally, this position will recruit, interview, hire, supervise and evaluate the skills of temporary and student staff to support athletic and outside events in all athletic venues. In fulfilling these duties, this position is responsible for effectively collaborating amongst multiple departments both internal and external to the Oregon Athletic Department.

Major functions of this role include planning, organizing and coordinating the activities associated with event management services at department facilities. This position works a flexible schedule as required to ensure proper supervision of all events and activities scheduled in department facilities. This includes but is not limited to event coordination, event staff planning and supervision, event security coordination, credential planning and implementation, access control, communication/coordination with Athletic Facilities, Ticketing, Media Relations, Marketing, Donor Relations, Audio/Video, Athletic Programs, campus departments, city officials, emergency services, police, and fire departments. Responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the university, Big Ten Conference, the NCAA, and the state of Oregon.

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, supervising, and directing all event activities for outside contracted events for events hosted at PK Park and Pape Field. This does not include Eugene Emeralds sponsored events. They will train staff in NCAA, Big Ten, University of Oregon Athletic Department, Life Safety and Guest Services procedures. This position will evaluate, schedule and supervise staff for approximately 75 events throughout the year.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• 1 year of collegiate or professional stadium and/or large arena event management experience.

Professional Competencies

• Experience in leading part-time staff and/or vendors in an event setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work with departments and outside parties in creating event plans.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to work long, irregular hours as dictated by events schedule.
• Ability to make decisions in pressure situations.
• Demonstrated experience and/or commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Division 1, Power-5 athletic program.
• Experience with Adobe Illustrator, CAD, and/or Photoshop as it relates to event maps and signage.
• Master’s degree in Sport Management or related field.
• 2 years of collegiate or professional football stadium and/or large arena event management experience.
