Department Summary

Administrative Services oversees multiple business hubs and Shared Service organizations throughout the University. Located within the Finance and Administration portfolio, the objective of the division is to provide efficient, strategic and specialized administrative services to support the missions of various departments, schools and colleges at the University of Oregon. Administrative Services focuses on department-specific budget, finance, payroll, human resources and procure to pay functions. Administrative Services is a metric driven, people first administrative team that strives to create efficient, effective and sustainable administrative support structures across campus.
Compliance and UOAA Business Management oversees the business and administrative functions of the UO Alumni Association (UOAA), a distinct legal entity registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that operates autonomously from the University of Oregon, a separate 501(c)(3). This team manages compliance and institutional interactions with the University of Oregon and the University of Oregon Foundation, operates within UOAA’s independent financial systems, and supports the UOAA Board of Directors as well as more than 40 domestic and international UOAA chapters and groups.

Position Summary

The Accounting Technician plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth day-to-day accounting operations. This role is a fully supportive, detail-oriented position responsible for providing transactional and administrative financial support to the Compliance and UOAA Business Management unit within Administrative Services. This role operates under the direction of senior finance staff and plays an important part in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting routine accounting functions across the unit.

Key responsibilities include processing accounts payable and receivable, tracking membership dues and vendor payments, preparing deposits, reconciliation support, and organizing financial documentation. The Accounting Technician also supports the preparation of financial reports, assists with contract and vendor document management, and processing mail and occasional bank deposits. The role will be assisting with contract tracking, routing documents for signature, and delivering outgoing mail.

The position requires excellent organizational skills, accuracy in financial entry and tracking, and the ability to follow established processes and procedures. It contributes to the integrity of business operations by ensuring proper documentation, compliance with GAAP and fund accounting standards, and timely support to internal teams.

This role is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (three days in-office, two days remote) and follows a standard Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule. Work is regularly reviewed by a supervisor for timeliness, accuracy, and adherence to applicable requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• 12 quarter hours (8 semester hours) of Accounting courses AND An Associates Degree in Accounting;
OR
• One year of experience that includes entering, compiling and/or reporting financial information;
OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Transcripts must be submitted for all required and/or related courses. All courses must be from accredited colleges, universities, or private vocational schools.
