Department Summary
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is the intellectual hub of the University of Oregon, serving nearly two-thirds of all students. Home to more than 800 faculty across 50+ departments and programs in the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences, CAS is a dynamic and interdisciplinary academic community. Our faculty and advisors work closely with students to develop critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and clear communication skills to address real-world challenges. CAS staff and managers are integral to this work, playing vital roles in supporting academic excellence and advancing the mission of both the College and the University.
This position is in an Academic Service Unit (ASU), which houses staff and managers who provide administrative, strategic, and operations support to multiple academic departments in CAS.
Position Summary
The Faculty Support Coordinator is the primary support position for faculty personnel processes within the assigned Academic Support Unit (ASU) and assists the Operations Manager in administrative tasks and special projects. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager and working as part of the ASU Academic team, this position coordinates completion of all faculty-related processes within the assigned ASU, which include faculty searches, tenure track faculty promotion and tenure process, reviews and evaluations, and contract renewals for non-tenure track faculty. In assigned areas, the position is the primary faculty liaison and will provide guidance to faculty related to personnel and pay actions, sabbatical processes, and other employment-related requests.
Special projects as assigned may require independent research, analysis, evaluation, and interpretation. The position may initiate and/or propose such projects and studies, or be assigned projects from Department Heads, Directors, or Operations Manager. This position has responsibility for undertaking projects from set-up through completion and has near-exclusive control of many projects. The person in this position interacts frequently with the units’ faculty and staff, as well as with administrative colleagues throughout the academic and administrative areas of the University.
