Department Summary
Administrative Services oversees multiple business hubs and Shared Service organizations throughout the University. Located within the Finance and Administration portfolio, the objective of the division is to provide efficient, strategic and specialized administrative services to support the missions of various departments, schools and colleges at the University of Oregon. Administrative Services focuses on department-specific budget, finance, payroll, human resources and procure to pay functions. Administrative Services is a metric driven, people first administrative team that strives to create efficient, effective and sustainable administrative support structures across campus.
Compliance and University Association Business Management (CUBM) serves as the centralized business management, governance, and compliance team for the University of Oregon Alumni Association (UOAA), an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit that operates outside of University of Oregon systems and outside of central university offices such as Business Affairs, Treasury and Tax Services, and Purchasing and Contracting Services. Acting as a comprehensive business services partner, CUBM oversees the UOAA’s business operations, technology ecosystem, financial administration, governance, compliance, and risk management.
Because the UOAA operates independently, many functions typically provided by central university offices fall directly to CUBM. This requires specialized expertise, independent judgment, and oversight of business operations, financial stewardship, technology administration, regulatory compliance, and organizational governance. CUBM also supports the UOAA Board of Directors and ensures operational and compliance alignment across three interconnected organizations that share employees, partnerships, programs, and data.
CUBM also supports 42 chapters and network groups, including 26 regional chapters across 16 states, 4 international chapters spanning 5 countries, 2 professional groups, and 10 affinity groups. Managing this diverse national and international network requires navigating complex nonprofit, tax, financial, and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions while maintaining strong governance and financial controls.
Position Summary
The UOAA Accounting Manager (Accounting Manager) plays a critical and senior role in ensuring the fiscal integrity of the University of Oregon Alumni Association (UOAA) by owning and managing the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization and serving as the principal technical accounting and financial advisor to UOAA leadership.
Reporting to the Director, Compliance and UOAA Business Management, the Accounting Manager utilizes the UOAA’s financial systems to manage and monitor membership dues, donations, event revenues, and related expenditures, including bifurcating blended revenue streams into contribution and reciprocal exchange-benefit portions and advising staff on gift revenue restrictions, Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT) triggers, and scholarship tax compliance.
Key responsibilities include consolidating financial information from various sources and reconciling transactions accurately with bank records. This position is responsible for overseeing financial audits, evaluating system outputs for compliance with GAAP and fund accounting standards, and monitoring budgets for external alumni programs. Additionally, the accounting manager analyzes financial data, forecasts trends, and implements corrective actions to address audit findings, all while maintaining strong financial systems and processes.
The accounting manager will prepare and maintain detailed financial records, reconcile accounts, and generate comprehensive financial reports for the director and the Executive Director, UOAA and Associate VP, Alumni Relations, and the UOAA Board of Directors.
