Department Summary
The Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Oregon serves a variety of students with a wide range of needs and interests. Position Summary
The Marketing and Front of House Coordinator promotes University Theatre productions and supports front of house operations. This position will collaborate with Theatre Arts faculty and other production leads to promote, on average, four theatre productions throughout the year. This work includes designing professional-level marketing materials and show programs, writing advertising copy, overseeing photographers, coordinating with printers and local media, distributing materials for promotion, overseeing marketing campaigns, evaluating the efficacy of marketing practices in compliance with brand standards set by University Communications.
Additionally, this position will serve as a point of contact for general inquiries. This position oversees day-to-day operations of the lobby and seating areas of the Miller Theatre Complex, which includes maintaining the functionality and safety of these spaces, ensuring excellent customer experiences for theatre patrons, coordinating with the UO Ticket Office on ticket sales, overseeing lobby displays and decor, managing inventory for concessions and operational supplies, liaising with special guests or group visits, and other duties as assigned.
The Marketing and Front of House Coordinator supervises student staff comprised of a house manager, ushers, photographers, and office assistants. This position is responsible for recruiting, onboarding, and directing student staff in compliance with university policies and union requirements. Hours may vary, and some evenings or weekends may be required depending on project needs.
Minimum Requirements
• Two years of general clerical experience, one year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
• An Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
•Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.
College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Professional Competencies
• Proficiency with design software such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and/or other programs.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Ability to manage concurrent project timelines, assess priorities, and meet firm deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate and accept artistic direction from project leads.
• Strong customer-service mindset.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
• Ability to troubleshoot and remain calm to address emerging situations.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with marketing.
• Experience with venue management and/or event work.
• Experience with theatre or other performing arts.
