Department Summary

The Division of Undergraduate Education and Student Success (UESS) promotes academic excellence, universal access, engagement, and achievement for the student scholar. UESS programs focus on the educational trajectory of the student by providing opportunities and services essential for progress toward scholastic objectives and intellectual development. UESS departments and programs serve the entire population of UO undergraduate students and partner closely with other campus units to support student success and engagement.

Focused on ensuring student success, retention, and completion, the departments located in the Oregon Hall 101 suite provide academic advising, transition services, and wrap-around/holistic student support. The suite sees students with diverse academic interests, abilities, and cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.

Position Summary

The Front Desk Services Coordinator position serves as the primary initial professional staff contact for Oregon Hall 101 and is an essential member of the suite team. Through exceptional customer service at the front desk/reception, this position directly contributes to the creation of a welcoming and inclusive environment, student wayfinding within Oregon Hall, and a quality intake process.

The Front Desk Services Coordinator position provides support to each of the units in the suite and partners with them on specific information and work requests to meet the needs of all students. The work requires a high level of professionalism and the ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks in a timely, efficient and accurate manner, as well as excellent written and verbal communication to be able to respond to students, parents, and community needs effectively. Due to the sensitive nature of student information, maintaining confidentiality standards are of the utmost importance. The position is supervised by the Office Manager of the suite.

Minimum Requirements

• Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents;
OR
• An Associate degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology;
OR
• Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.

College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Professional Competencies

• Effective written communication skills, including the ability to write and speak on behalf of OAA regarding advising functions.
• Effective organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, and time-sensitive environment.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (or similar).
• Ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a front-desk receptionist in a fast-paced office environment.
• One year of professional experience in higher education.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience using Banner database or similar system.
