Department Summary

The HEDCO Clinic is a multi-disciplinary, innovative training clinic within the College of Education offering adults, children, couples, and families evidenced-based assessments, therapy, and tutoring services. The HEDCO Clinic consists of training and service clinics – including the Speech Language and Hearing Center (SLHC), the Center for Healthy Relationships (CHR), the Comprehensive Diagnostic, Assessment Center (CDAC), the Child and Family Center (CFC), the Counseling Psychology Center (CPC), Academic tutoring, and the Autism and Developmental Disabilities (ADD) Program – operating within the College of Education and serving the community of Eugene-Springfield and greater Lane County. The clinic has a student clinician staff of approximately one hundred thirty students and over forty faculty and supervisors.

Students seeking careers as couples and family therapists, speech-language pathologists, special education instructors, and counseling and school psychologists gain practical experience. The clinic is staffed by a team of faculty and graduate students who provide comprehensive, research-based services to individuals ages 2-90, couples, and families. The clinic provides services in the areas of autism, learning disability, speech and language therapy, cognitive and brain injury interventions, academic tutoring, as well as individual, couples, and family counseling. The HEDCO Clinic provides more than 11,000 client appointments to more than 800 clients every year.

Position Summary

This position will provide clinical supervision to graduate students who are enrolled in clinical practicum within the ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) program. Clinical Assistant Professors focus their training and instruction on the practical application of skills necessary to engage in their profession and acquire the necessary skills to become a certified behavior analyst. This position will also provide direct services to clients through diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic interventions for the populations served.

Appointment level varies, based on supervisory load and individual case load. Hours vary depending on the schedules of graduate students under supervision and HEDCO clinic hours that may vary across the academic terms. Supervision and service provision will occur on-campus within the HEDCO Clinic.

This position is a nine-month pro tem faculty position in the Clinical Professor classification series. The position is a limited-duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years.

The Clinical Assistant Professor reports to the HEDCO Clinic Director.

Minimum Requirements

• Master’s or Doctorate in Applied Behavior Analysis or related field (e.g. Special Education).
• Evidence of professional expertise in behavior analysis and relevant therapeutic interventions with children and adolescents.
• Record of effective mentoring, teaching, and/or supervision in clinical settings.
• Board certified as a behavior analyst in the state of Oregon.

Professional Competencies

• Demonstrated potential to contribute positively to our diverse community and to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills that will enhance community relations and support graduate student training
• Ability to learn Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
• Competency communicating with other clinicians
• Competency working with clients from varied backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years' clinical experience post-Doctoral degree
• Multilingual, with a preference for Spanish
• Doctorate in Applied Behavior Analysis or related field (e.g. Special Education)
