Department Summary

The Office of Admissions assumes primary responsibility for new student recruitment, admission counseling, education records evaluation, and the initial creation of student records systems. The work is completed within University admission standards, and policies, as well as related state and federal laws and regulations. Each year the office researches and responds to over 150,000 mail inquiries related to the admission process and requirements, and evaluates approximately 30,000 applications for admission. The mission of the office results in approximately 18,000 students being admitted and enrolling 8,000 new students each year which creates for the University approximately 55 million dollars annually in tuition income.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for evaluating and processing prospective international high school, transfer, post-bac, and graduate student applications for admission to the University of Oregon. This will include the evaluation of International transcripts and documents to determine if a student meets admissibility standards.

The Admissions Evaluator will assist with the coding and data entry of applications for admissions. They will research issues with applications including missing documents, inaccurate grading scales, and additional information being necessary. Duties will include relaying information to prospective and current students about missing information.

Minimum Requirements

• Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
• An Associate’s degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
• Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.

College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years of experience with Banner.
• Experience evaluating international documents including transcripts, degree audits, evaluations, and financial documents.
