Department Summary
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is the hub of learning, research, and academic excellence at the University of Oregon. With nearly 50 departments and programs representing the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities, the high quality of our programs is the main reason why the University of Oregon is one of only 65 universities in the prestigious Association of American Universities.
The CAS Travel Team provides travel assistance to all CAS employees and students. We strive to provide excellent customer service and expertise, supporting travelers in all aspects of business travel.
Position Summary
The Travel Technician will process travel-related transactions for departments within the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS). The person in this position will arrange and book travel, prepare expense reports, and assist CAS faculty, students, and staff. They will interpret university, federal and state regulations for the manager, faculty and department heads. They will coordinate with the CAS Grants team to assist faculty and staff with grant-related travel. This position will assist with, monitor, and reconcile cash advance requests. They will also coordinate the use of cancelled airline tickets. In addition, this position will assist guests in document completion including international VISA/W9 & W8 forms.
The Travel Technician will act as liaison for CAS with campus partners, such as the Business Affairs Office. The person in this position will work closely with and assist the Academic Support Unit staff, managers, department heads, and other related personnel. They may be assigned to assist other departments at the discretion of the Travel Manger.
Minimum Requirements
• 12 quarter hours (8 semester hours) of accounting courses AND
• An associate’s degree in accounting; OR
• One year of experience that includes entering, compiling and/or reporting financial information; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Transcripts must be submitted for all required and/or related courses. All courses must be from accredited colleges, universities, or private vocational schools.
Professional Competencies
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Excel and Word.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize, and exercise independent judgement.
• Ability to prioritize and track accounting functions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet multiple deadlines.
• Ability to work in a team environment with all levels of professionals.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Commitment to and experience with promoting and enhancing diversity and equity.
Preferred Qualifications
• Fund accounting experience.
• Experience with Banner and Concur, as related to accounts payable and travel.
